Vintage crockery and cake were needed yesterday for the Spring & Summer shoot for Elias & Grace, one very chic children’s boutique in Primrose Hill. A vintage tea party themed shoot was order of the afternoon and i conjured up a variety of heart shaped scones, chocolate & mint butterfly biscuits & my favourite Fondant Fancies!
we eventually decided on shooting in the greenhouse, which i dressed with crockery and cakes and one by one, the most beautiful and ethereal little girls wafted in, in dresses which i need making in my size and hair natural and strewn with wild flowers. very Picnic at Hanging Rock.
here’s a little of my favourite crockery which turned up for its first photoshoot…
photos hopefully won’t be too long- hurry hurry little beauties….x

February 21st, 2012Joe Rush Exhibition Feb 2012
February 20th, 2012so Mary’s Tea Parties went a little off piste last week providing the food for an exhibition showcasing the work of Punk Sculpture artist Joe Rush brought together by Coburn Projects.
finger sandwiches, scones and the most delicate of pastries went out of the window in favour of delights a little dirtier and more industrial.
extra mature cheesy filled mini baked potatoes, a whole load of butter and salt topped with sour cream and chives served in individual foil jackets on a grey slate tile and chilli oh yes very chilli ones too!
you can’t beat a sausage roll can you? chunks of Bourke Street Bakery inspired Pork & Fennel rolls with a good dunk of Ketchup went down a storm- Mr Rush in particular developed a soft spot for them!
a great crowd showed up to support Joe and see some of his smaller pieces and sketches. this is the second time we have fed the art hungry crowd- a very different vibe last time for the rock n roll tea party for Ronnie wood.
to add a sweet flourish we served Rusty Rocky Roads…pretty was very much out of the question so rough chunks of this dark chocolate delight were brushed down with edible rust and heaped onto the slate- served with great aplomb by Miss Raspberry Charlotte. the addition of ginger biscuits and sour cherries turned this kiddie treat into something a little darker and more grown up.
great vibe, great art and great food. winning combo x
